Doha: Visit Qatar has announced the launch of a first-of-its-kind desert activation at Ras Abrouq, situated near the Al Reem Biosphere Reserve, a UNESCO-protected site in northwest Qatar. Designed as a family-friendly destination, this initiative combines adventure, relaxation, and cultural enrichment. Running from December 18 to January 18, the activation offers an array of immersive experiences through various zones.
Highlights include "Our Habitas Resort," "The Desert Escape," "Film City," a Wildlife Park, and a Glamping Zone. Activities range from hot air balloon rides and stargazing to camel parades, live performances, and interactive workshops. Cultural elements such as traditional Qatari installations and storytelling enhance the experience, ensuring something for all ages.
The Film City zone features coffee and gift shops, an exhibition by the Ministry of Education, and wildlife rides, while "The Desert Escape" boasts acrobatic shows, falconry demonstrations, and dining options. Visitors can choose from affordable packages tailored for weekdays, weekends, or specific activities like wellness retreats and stargazing.
This initiative reflects Qatar’s commitment to diversifying its tourism offerings and creating unforgettable desert experiences for both visitors and residents.
Ahmed Hamad Al Binali, Director of Festivals and Events at Visit Qatar, emphasized the organization’s dedication to offering diverse and interactive experiences for all visitors. He highlighted the exciting array of activities available, from engaging entertainment at the Film City zone to the thrilling adventures in the Desert Escape, such as hot air balloon rides. “Every element is tailored to offer something for everyone,” he stated.
He further elaborated on the cultural integration within the activation, noting the inclusion of live performances, cultural installations, and educational workshops. “We’ve incorporated daily camel parades and other attractions, enabling families to connect with Qatar’s rich heritage while enjoying its breathtaking desert landscapes,” Al Binali added.
