Years of Culture named the Kingdom of Morocco as its 2024 partner; than 80 events is set to unfold across Qatar and Morocco

Qatar and Morocco first launched diplomatic ties in 1972 and have since successfully collaborated in a wide range of sectors including security, judiciary, and tourism leading to shared economic growth. The FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ also showcased the robust diplomatic rapport between the two nations, marking a significant milestone in the long-standing bilateral relationship between Qatar and Morocco.

Since establishing diplomatic relations in 1972, Morocco and Qatar have worked together effectively in a number of areas, such as security, the courts, and tourism, resulting in mutual economic progress. The FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022TM served as a major showcase for the strong diplomatic ties between the two countries and was a major turning point in the long-standing bilateral relationship between Morocco and Qatar.

For Qatar-Morocco 2024, a number of the initiative's long-running programmes will be reinstated. In the longest-running Years of Culture exchange, the Photography Journey, photographers from Morocco and Qatar will travel across one other's landscapes, bringing their unique perspectives on cultural variety to life via their cameras. Additionally, via artisan residencies and open workshops in both nations, common traditions of art and craftsmanship will be investigated. There will also be major athletic events, gourmet events, and exhibitions all year long.

As part of the Qatar-Morocco 2024 Year of Culture, partnerships with Moroccan designers will be included in the already scheduled Design Doha biennial. For practitioners from all over the Arab world, the biannual exhibition for quality and innovation in the design community in Qatar and the MENA area offers a new venue for networking with internationally recognised designers and paving the way for the development of professional routes.
