Qatar Tourism and the Geneva International Motor Show (GIMS) are pleased to announce the attendance of 30 major automotive companies in the first GIMS Qatar, which will be held in Doha from October 5 to 14, 2023. Qatar, home to some of the world's most high-profile athletic events, from the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 to the Formula 1 ® Qatar Airways Qatar Grand Prix 2023, will host the first-ever Geneva International Motor Show outside of Switzerland.
Exhibitors' high demand reflects GIMS' original, first-of-its-kind event idea, which is establishing new benchmarks for transcontinental motor exhibitions and organically. Car aficionados visiting the exhibition will be among the first to witness ten groundbreaking new cars, which will be introduced during the event. Exhibitors will occupy about 10,000 m2 of space at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre (DECC). A total of five notable external sites around the country will give visitors and guests with a diverse and engaging festival experience. Following the close of registrations at the end of June, GIMS will now begin the space allocation procedure. In the next weeks, participating brands will be announced on the GIMS social media platforms.
Beginning with an exclusive opening ceremony and gala dinner on October 5, GIMS Qatar will welcome the world's media on October 6, before opening to the general public from October 7 to 14. The event is being hosted in conjunction with the Formula 1 ® Qatar Airways Qatar Grand Prix 2023, which will also be held in Doha from October 6 to 8. The entire GIMS Qatar event schedule will be released soon. A Forum for the Future of Car Design will be hosted at the National Museum of Qatar. Offroad adventure experiences at Sealine Desert, ride and drives at the Lusail International Circuit, and a 'best of the best' gallery of historic vehicles will also be available.
Qatar has a long and illustrious history of hosting important events and conferences. Qatar Tourism sponsored the 9th Annual Destination Wedding Planners Congress earlier this year in March, the world's largest B2B event for destination weddings. Furthermore, the Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition, the region's only B2B and B2C event of its type, featured the participation of over 500 local, regional, and worldwide firms in February at the DECC, the same site where GIMS Qatar will be held.
Qatar is fast developing as a premier destination for large worldwide events, thanks to state-of-the-art facilities, an award-winning national carrier and airport, seamless public transit networks, open tourism visa regulations, and a strategic central position.
